Corpse Paint?

By Dr. House

When you think of Black Metal, what comes to mind first? The atmosphere? The darkness? Satanism? Probably not. I bet you think of crazy satanic dudes in makeup. This makeup is called corpse paint. And a lot of people are against it or think it looks stupid or "gay". Seriously, i've seen forum posts where people call them gay for having corpse paint. But does it hurt anything? Hell no. It just adds to these guys persona's when they get on stage or do a video. I say, more corpse paint! Some of the guys in black metal truly are satanic. And the corpse paint that they do is a reflection of their inner being. And that is artistic. Its like gangster rappers wearing the clothes and bling they do. Its no different. So why are some people so against corpse paint? I haven't a clue. They need to just let artistic sense be. But what do I know. This is my opinion. I don't think it hurts anything. But I do feel some black metal bands are more about the corpse paint then about the music itself. That I am against. But when the music is bad ass, I say go all out with the CP. Leave your comments or shout in the shoutbox. I wanna know all of your opinions on this. House out.

Anyone remember Alice Cooper, Kiss, or David Bowie? It's all part of the image.

However, sometimes it is truly lame, when a bunch of 17-year-olds all wear the corpse-paint and Dimmu Borgir T-Shirts and Nail Wrist Bands, and Bullet Belts. And then listen to My Chemical Romance with their goth-grrrlfriends and whine about how un-cool their rich parents are.

I do prefer what Attila from Mayhem has done lately - going far beyond mere corpse-paint, and creating a unique costume for every show to enhance the mood.
